Based on Laminar’s core weather system but entirely reworked for the B747-8, this new radar offers true volumetric scanning and multi-mode functionality.
All the real-world modes are available:
- 🌦️ WX (Weather): Displays precipitation intensity with realistic color coding to reveal storm structure and rainfall density.
- ⚡ WX+T (Weather + Turbulence): Adds advanced convective turbulence detection, ideal for avoiding dangerous cells.
- 🌧️ MAP: Combines navigation and weather information, useful for situational orientation.
- ⏩ Manual TILT & GAIN Control: Adjust radar tilt and sensitivity just like in the real aircraft for precise readings at varying altitudes.
- 📡 AUTO Mode: Automatically manages antenna tilt and gain depending on flight phase — perfect for cruise operations.
Unlike simple overlays, this radar performs true 3D atmospheric sampling, providing a dynamically generated, physically-based weather picture ahead of the aircraft.
🤖 Revolutionary Autothrottle with Fuzzy Logic
A cornerstone of this update: the new Autothrottle (AT) is now powered by fuzzy logic control, bringing human-like adaptability to engine power management.
It continuously evaluates:
- target vs. actual airspeed,
- acceleration trends,
- available thrust,
- aircraft weight and configuration,
- and real-time wind and air density variations.
This enables the AT to anticipate changes, smoothly regulate thrust, and maintain perfect speed stability, even in turbulence or during configuration changes.
It’s an entirely new level of realism — the most refined and responsive AT system ever implemented in this aircraft.
🌬️ Advanced Wind Management and Predictive Performance
The Flight Management Computer (FMC) now integrates live wind-aloft predictions for unprecedented realism in route and fuel management.
It dynamically computes:
- estimated time of arrival (ETA),
- fuel consumption,
- altitude-dependent wind variation,
- and optimal cruise levels.
As flight conditions evolve, the FMC adapts in real time, adjusting its predictions for fuel, timing, and performance — just as the real aircraft does.
This enhancement transforms long-haul flights into a true professional-level operation.
⚙️ Reworked Speed Calculations and Improved VSD
Speed computation logic has been rebuilt for higher accuracy across all flight phases, taking into account aircraft weight, configuration, temperature, and altitude.
The Vertical Situation Display (VSD) has also been corrected and fine-tuned for smoother and more reliable integration with the FMC’s vertical profile.

Dozens of adjustments improve the Autopilot’s precision in capturing localizers, holding altitude, and transitioning between modes.
Each system has been flight-tested in multiple scenarios to guarantee stable, predictable performance.

💥 CTD Fixes – The Result of an Enormous Debugging Effort
Over the past months, a tremendous amount of time was invested in hunting down and eliminating rare CTD (Crash to Desktop) issues.
Every potential source of instability was inspected line by line, consuming hundreds of hours of testing, profiling, and debugging.
The outcome: a significantly more stable and robust platform, ready for your longest and most demanding flights.

- The flight model performs almost datasheets for consumiption, climb, cruise, descent and arrival phases with less then 5% of difference making it a very hi quality representative model.
- The model was very well tested by many real 747 pilots and mechanics along 12 years plus over 1000 beta testers that contributes to the best resulting for this ACF model quality.
