Southport Airport (CYPG) is a private airport operated by Southport Aerospace Centre Inc., located 3 km south of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. It was formerly part of Canadian Forces Base (CFB)Portage la Prairie before being repurposed for civilian and military training operations.
We Developed this Airport as a side project to the AIRTaxi series. I hope you like our work!
The Airport features a 6,800-foot (2,073 m) paved runway, providing ample space for a wide range of aircraft operations, from military training flights to private aviation. The airport operates without a control tower, relying on pilot-coordinated communication and automated weather observation systems to ensure smooth and efficient air traffic management. Southport is best known as the home of the 3 Canadian Forces Flying Training School (3 CFFTS), where Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) pilots, along with international trainees, undergo rigorous flight training. With modern hangars, aircraft maintenance facilities, and advanced flight simulators, the airport is tailored to meet the demands of both military and civilian aviation training. Beyond its role in pilot education, Southport Airport supports general aviation, aerospace research, and light manufacturing, making it a dynamic center for both aviation innovation and operational excellence.
