A Rich History & Modern Growth
Established in 1948, LIH has continuously expanded to accommodate the growing number of visitors. By 1955, the airport covered 160 acres, featuring a restaurant, parking lot, improved runway, and additional facilities. Passenger demand surged over the decades, leading to a new runway in 1984 and a fully modernized terminal by 1987. Today, the airport spans 879 acres, serving over 8,100 passengers daily, with flights from American, Delta, United, Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Southwest, and WestJet.
